HD Construction Equipment signs MOU to promote water resource conservation in local communities across India
- Partnering with NAAM Foundation to support water management in drought-prone areas
- Expected to improve the quality of life for roughly 20,000 residents across 6 villages in the Pune district
HD Construction Equipment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to promote water resource conservation in local communities across India. A signing ceremony was held on June 11 at its Chakan plant in India, in collaboration with the NAAM Foundation.
The signing ceremony was attended by key leadership from both organizations, including Shim Seong-woo, Vice President of HD Construction Equipment’s Indian subsidiary, and Ganesh Thorat from the NAAM Foundation. Following the signing, a separate groundbreaking ceremony was held in Sandbhorwadi, which brought together local residents, government officials, and representatives from both partners.
This project will be implemented across six villages in Khed Taluka, Pune district, an area facing chronic water shortages due to severe droughts and inadequate water resource infrastructure.
HD Construction Equipment will invest approximately 4.9 million rupees (about 79 million KRW) from its CSR budget in the project, partnering with the NAAM Foundation—a leader in Indian rural development—to establish a long-term water management system that will restore the local agricultural sector and environment.
Around 20,000 residents are expected to benefit from these initiatives, which include ▲expanding and dredging reservoirs, ▲excavating and reinforcing embankments, ▲building rainwater storage and drainage systems, and ▲establishing community-based monitoring networks.
"This project reflects our dedication to sustainable community development and ensuring long-term water security in rural India," stated Vice President Shim Seong-woo. "We will persist in generating environmental and social value through collaboration with local communities."
