HD Construction Equipment Signs MOU for DEVELON Ultra-Large Mining Equipment & Solutions in Indonesia
- Strategic collaboration with Jhonlin Baratama, the largest coal company in Kalimantan, Indonesia.
- Partnership to drive field demonstrations of 100-ton ultra-large excavators and ADTs, along with the development of mining solutions.
HD Construction Equipment has partnered with the largest coal mining company in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, to expand DEVELON's presence in ultra-large mining equipment and solutions.
On April 8, HD Construction Equipment signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jhonlin Baratama, the coal-mining subsidiary of the Jhonlin Group, a diversified conglomerate operating in mining, agriculture, aviation, and logistics.
The signing ceremony was attended by key executives, including Byun Jum-seok (Vice President of the APAC/CIS Region), Shin Hee-woong (Head of DEVELON Indonesia), Feri Yandi (Chief Executive Officer of Jhonlin Group), and Daud Kala Bombang (President of Jhonlin Baratama).
Under this MOU, the two companies will engage in a comprehensive collaboration focused on the mining business, which will include: ▲Joint development of a tailored Fleet Management System (FMS) specifically designed for mining sites; ▲Field demonstrations of the DEVELON DX1000, a 100-ton ultra-large excavator, and Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT); ▲Consultations regarding the introduction of new ultra-large equipment; and ▲Customized product development based on Jhonlin's operational data.
The Jhonlin Group produced 24 million tons of coal in 2025 and has received approval for a 51-million-ton quota from the Indonesian government this year. As they plan for record-breaking production, the demand for mining equipment has surged.
To secure this partnership, the DEVELON Indonesia subsidiary, in collaboration with the headquarters’ Strategic Product Sales Part under the Business Development team, has been actively engaging with the client and visiting sites since last year.
HD Construction Equipment expanded its role beyond simply selling equipment by introducing a collaboration model aimed at providing value through joint development and practical applications of mining equipment and FMS. This approach appealed to Jhonlin's management, ultimately leading to a strategic partnership between the two companies.
After signing the MOU, engineers from Jhonlin Group traveled to South Korea from April 13 to 15 to observe HD Construction Equipment’s technical capabilities firsthand.
During their visit, they toured sites that utilize HD Construction Equipment’s FMS and the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center to explore advanced integrated management solutions. These visits sparked in-depth discussions regarding system integration and plans for specific field demonstrations in Indonesia.
"This partnership presents a vital opportunity to build a solid customer base in the Indonesian mining sector while also demonstrating the effectiveness of our ultra-large equipment and mining solutions," said Vice President Byun Jum-seok. "Through this demonstration-led collaboration, we aim to build a long-term, trust-based partnership that will sharpen our global competitiveness in the mining sector."
Through this agreement, HD Construction Equipment aims to establish a business model that combines heavy equipment sales with operational solutions in the Indonesian mining market. This strategic approach will provide a technical advantage for future large-scale mining projects and enhance the brand's overall credibility.
