HD Hyundai’s Construction Equipment Division Launches Academic Advisory Committee to Strengthen Technology Network
- Advisory role focused on future core technologies such as autonomous and electrified construction equipment.
- Aims to maximize synergy between external expertise and internal R&D by validating technology roadmaps.
On April 6, HD Hyundai’s Construction Equipment Division held the launch ceremony for the Academic Advisory Committee at the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center.
The ceremony was attended by key executives, including Moon Jae-young, CEO of HD Construction Equipment; Song Hee-joon, CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution; Senior Executive Vice President Kim Seung-han (Technology Institute); and Executive Vice President Park Heung-keun (Technology Institute). They were joined by esteemed faculty members from leading Korean universities appointed as advisors: ▲Prof. Seo Jong-won (Hanyang University); ▲Prof. Lee Dong-jun (Seoul National University); ▲Prof. Kang Yeon-sik (Kookmin University); ▲Prof. Lee Seung-chul (KAIST); ▲Prof. Cho Young-hoon (Konkuk University); ▲Prof. Cha Young-su (Korea University); and ▲Prof. Yoon Young-doo (Hanyang University).
The Academic Advisory Committee is an advisory organization focused on emerging core technologies such as autonomous operations and electrification. Its primary mandate is to validate mid- to long-term technology roadmaps, formalize core technical strategies, and monitor emerging global technology and industry trends.
By validating technology roadmaps from various academic perspectives, the company aims to minimize trial-and-error and refine the precision of its strategic investment decisions. Furthermore, this initiative will foster industry-academic research synergies and expand the pipeline for securing top-tier technical talent.

The Advisory Committee will implement a phased operational plan that includes ▲detailed technical discussions with management, ▲advisory seminars, and ▲specialized consultation sessions on key topics. Additionally, through regular and on-demand advisory activities, the company seeks to enhance integration between external expertise and internal technical capabilities, strengthening the foundation for securing its mid- to long-term competitiveness and steering the future of construction equipment technology.
