From May 14th to 17th, HD Construction Equipment organized its "Global Volunteer Day," during which employees from around the world participated in activities focused on restoring ecosystems and preserving biodiversity.
"Global Volunteer Day" is a worldwide initiative launched in 2023 by HD Construction Equipment and HD Hyundai XiteSolution, focused on raising awareness about ecosystem conservation in local communities.
This year's event featured around 1,300 employees from 10 countries, including South Korea, the United States, China, India, Brazil, Ghana, and the Czech Republic.
In Korea, employees visited the Sujin Wetland Ecological Park in Seongnam City to clean up the area by removing green algae, sediment, debris, and twigs. They also planted nectar- and pollen-rich melliferous plants and installed "Bee Hotels" to create habitats for wild bees.
Additional environmental initiatives took place near various business sites across Korea, ranging from drainage maintenance along the Uiryeong Trail in Bukhansan National Park to planting native species in Gyeongju National Park. Other efforts involved collecting marine waste from beaches in Gunsan and Incheon and planting trees in Soi-myeon, Eumseong-gun, North Chungcheong Province.
Overseas offices also joined the initiative. In Yantai, China, the local subsidiary visited a Hope Primary School to provide biodiversity education while also conducting forest conservation and cleanup activities in the Guolusi Scenic Area of the Fushan District.
At the Chakan plant in India, employees supported local biodiversity by installing bird feeders and water bowls in nearby habitats and clearing drainage paths to protect local trees. The Brazilian subsidiary collected trash and repaired facilities at Itatiaia National Park.
"Preserving the environment and harmonizing with our communities is a fundamental responsibility," an HD Construction Equipment official noted. "We are committed to long-term ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation to ensure a sustainable future for all."
