HD Construction Equipment announced on Wednesday, March 4, that it will be hosting an "Operator Challenge" at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, the largest construction trade show in North America, which will take place from March 3 to 7 in Las Vegas. The Operator Challenge will feature daily competitions, with the top-scoring operator each day winning a $1,000 cash prize.
The challenge, held for three days starting March 3 at the Hyundai brand booth, invites attendees to test their operating skills. Participants are required to operate the new HX19E mini electric excavator to maneuver three balls into designated holes as quickly as possible. A winner is crowned at the end of each day.
The event is set to be a major attraction, featuring demonstration matches by popular construction equipment influencers. In addition to the main prize, participants and spectators can win various souvenirs, including branded T-shirts, through on-site drawings.
Through this interactive challenge, HD Construction Equipment aims to strengthen its brand presence in North America by giving potential customers the chance to experience the power and precision of its electric equipment firsthand.
The featured HX19E mini electric excavator is equipped with a class-leading 40kWh battery, enabling more than 10 hours of continuous operation. It delivers performance on par with traditional diesel models but with zero emissions and significantly reduced noise. This makes it an ideal choice for both indoor and outdoor sites, particularly in advanced markets with increasingly strict environmental regulations.
According to Market Research Future, the U.S. compact electric construction equipment market is projected to grow from $9.16 billion in 2025 to $41.64 billion by 2035, representing a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.3%.
"We designed this event to go beyond a static display, offering visitors an engaging way to experience our technology," said an official from HD Construction Equipment. "With the HX19E and our latest lineup of Hyundai and DEVELON models, we are poised to accelerate our growth in the North American market."
Marking its first major global exhibition as an integrated corporation, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is operating dedicated booths for the Hyundai and DEVELON brands at this year’s CONEXPO. The company is debuting nine next-generation models for the North American market, ranging from 23 to 40 tons. Highlights of the exhibit include interactive remote-control stations for wheel loaders and live demonstrations of “REAL-X,” the flagship unmanned autonomous solution designed to captivate industry stakeholders and visitors alike.
