HD Construction Equipment Secures Order to Export K2 Tank Engines to Poland

HD Construction Equipment announced on January 28 that it had entered into a contract with Hyundai Rotem to supply K2 tank engines (DV27K) bound for Poland. This contract marks the second supply batch since the 2022 deal, covering 116 units.
The engines supplied this time by HD Construction Equipment will be installed in domestically produced K2 tanks scheduled for export to Poland beginning the second half of this year, with some units to be used as spare engines and for transmission testing. Following this contract, HD Construction Equipment also plans to supply tank engines for special purposes such as recovery, obstacle-clearing, and bridge-laying vehicles.
As the only manufacturer to have developed and mass-produced K2 tank engines independently, HD Construction Equipment is driving continuous overseas exports through its stable supply and maintenance system. In addition to Poland, HD Construction Equipment is the sole supplier of engines for Türkiye’s next-generation “Altay” tanks, with exports of the K2 tank to Peru in South America gaining traction.
The maximum output of the K2 tank engine is 1,500 horsepower, which is one of the highest levels among tank engines currently in service, enabling the 56-ton K2 tank to reach speeds of up to 70 km/h. Since the engine is designed to operate reliably under severe vibration, shock, and extreme environments such as high- or low-temperature conditions, it is drawing attention from countries worldwide considering the introduction of next-generation tanks.
HD Construction Equipment began mass-producing engines for Türkiye’s next-generation tank last year. It has been strengthening its credibility and industry network in the tank engine segment by participating in IDEX, one of the largest international defense exhibitions in the Middle East. In addition to the Peruvian Army, which has established a strategic partnership with Korea, the company is also pursuing additional orders from Eastern European countries that are advancing their tank modernization plans.
HD Construction Equipment plans to meet mid- to long-term demand increases stably through its defense engine production lines at its Incheon plant as well as its Gunsan plant, whose completion is scheduled for this year.
