HD Hyundai’s Construction Equipment Division Implements “The Safe Care” Initiative
- Starting in January, all personnel visiting work sites must adhere to nine core safety rules.
- Violations will stop all work immediately. Work can only restart after safety improvements are reported.
On January 8th, HD Hyundai’s Construction Equipment Division officially launched its new safety and health management program, titled “The Safe Care.” This program is designed to prevent major workplace accidents.
The Safe Care includes nine core safety rules that must be strictly followed at all HD Hyundai XiteSolution and HD Construction Equipment locations. These rules were developed based on prior major accidents in the construction equipment manufacturing industry and address five primary types of accidents: ▲falling, ▲crushing, ▲collision, ▲electrocution, and ▲asphyxiation. The rules apply to all individuals visiting the sites, including employees, contractors, and visitors.
Any violation of the nine core safety rules will trigger a response similar to a major accident, resulting in an immediate work stoppage, even if no actual incident has occurred. Once a work stoppage is initiated, operations can resume only after an investigation into the cause has been conducted and comprehensive improvement measures to enhance safety culture have been submitted. These measures may involve eliminating the risk factor or implementing management plans.
The Safe Care program will be operational starting with a company-wide announcement, followed by a guidance period until March, with full implementation scheduled for April 1.
Vice President Lee Kwang-myung (EHS Support) stated, “To establish a safety management system that is trusted by all and to foster a culture of safety, we plan to hold briefing sessions on the nine core safety rules of ‘The Safe Care’ for the employees of the HD Hyundai Construction Equipment Division, partner companies, and visitors.” He added, “We will strive to enhance the understanding that safety is the most fundamental promise we must uphold together.”
