Hyundai Genuine (the holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s construction equipment unit) subsidiary Hyundai Doosan Infracore is carrying out safety inspections of its vendor and raising safety awareness among all employees to prevent safety accidents.
Hyundai Doosan Infracore CEO Cho Young-cheul visited S-Steel, one of its vendors located in North Port, Seo-gu, Incheon, on Friday, April 22. S-Steel is a supplier of key excavator parts such as counterweights, buckets, and blades to Hyundai Doosan Infracore and Hyundai Construction Equipment.
During his visit, Cho toured the factory, inspected the workplace environment and safety facilities and equipment, and listened to the difficulties of on-site employees related to safety activities.
He was also briefed on the supplier’s investment plan. "We will actively prepare a win-win plan for shared growth including support for safety accident prevention and product quality improvement to strengthen the competitiveness of suppliers and expand their business," he promised.
In the afternoon, Hyundai Doosan Infracore held a Safety Day event and a safety resolution contest participated in by employees, labor union, and officials from suppliers to check the company’s overall safety activities.
Marking its 9th anniversary this year, the Safety Day event was conducted to inspect the company’s safety-related status to foster a safety culture by raising awareness of accident prevention and sharing best practices in environment, health, and safety (EHS) activities within the company in line with the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
The event included an awards ceremony for 64 groups that performed excellent environmental, health, and safety (EHS) activities for the past year and a presentation of the success case by the group that received the safety award by generating a manual that included the response to a fire specific to each site. The event ended with the recitation of the safety resolution by all participants and chanting of safety slogans in unison to strengthen the commitment to preventing serious accidents and establishing an accident-free workplace.
“A change in the perception of all employees that puts safety first is a prerequisite of everything. Since safety accidents do not distinguish management or labor, we will do our best to make an accident-free workplace a reality by eliminating risk factors in advance,” said Yoo Jun-mo, head of the Hyundai Doosan Infracore labor union who participated in the event.
Hyundai Doosan Infracore established the Environmental Safety and Health Policy last year under the philosophy of “Safety is the highest value that cannot be compromised” to support the establishment of a safety culture and safety activities in the company. The company has established the regular practice of field tour and inspection by management and identification and blocking of risk factors in advance. <End>
